REMARKS: Rondani (1861g: 390) described Sarcophaga nepos without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length, despite there being five specimens in the type series found in this study. In his redescription Rondani (1862d: 121) wrote: “ Semel marem et foeminam legi in Apennino parmensi [I collected the male and the female once in the Parmese Apennines]”. Pape (1988: 11) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotype (♂), but neither he nor Whitmore (2011: 51) mentioned an additional four females: three in the MZUF and one in the MSNC (all are paralectotypes).
