TYPE LOCALITY: “ In Apennino parmensi [Parmese Apennines ( Italy)]”.

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♂, lectotype ( MZUF: Box 19): Sarcophaga Mgn / amita Rnd. / 1034 / = amita Pand. , nepos Rnd. , p. p. det. Böttcher / Lectotype ♂ Sarcophaga amita Rnd., T. Pape det., 1986 / Heteronychia amita (Rnd.) , T. Pape det., 1986.

CURRENT STATUS: valid species, as Discachaeta amita ( Verves 1986: 145, Povolný & Verves 1997: 159); valid species, as Sarcophaga (Discachaeta) amita View in CoL ( Pape 1988: 6, 1996: 314, Pape et al. 1995: 14); valid species, as Sarcophaga (Heteronychia) amita View in CoL ( Whitmore 2011: 17; Krčmar et al. 2019: 126).

REMARKS: Rondani (1861g: 391) described Sarcophaga amita from just the male sex, without specifying either the number or the length of the specimens. In his redescription Rondani (1862d: 122) specified having had more than one male: “ Marem legi in collibus, et alium in Apenino agri parmensis [I collected the male on hills, and once on the Parmese Apennines]”. Pape (1988: 6) designated a lectotype (♂) and paralectotypes (2 ♂♂) but did not mention an additional male in the OUMNH and one male in the MSNC (both of these additional specimens are paralectotypes).
