Sarcophaga meiofilosia Pape, McKillup and McKillup, 2000
Morphological characters. Ve in R 1 setulose on basal 0.5. Gena with setulae a mix of black and yellow/white. Occiput with at least one row of black setulae behind the ocular setae, with setulae only yellow/white ventrally. Prescutellar acrostichal setae present. Proepisternum uniformly setulose, with setulae mostly yellow/white, however some male specimens have a mix of black and yellow/white. 1st and 2nd abdominal sternites with setulae only yellow/white. Body length 5–10 mm.
Geographical distribution. Australia (New South Wales, Queensland)—AUSTRALASIAN/OCEANIAN.
Biology. Sarcophaga meiofilosia is a parasitoid of specimens of the littoral snail Littoraria filosa , having shells 4– <10mm in length (McKillup et al. 2000; Pape et al. 2000; McKillup & McKillup 2002).
Taxonomy. DNA barcode sequences of S. meiofilosia have been deposited in both GenBank and BOLD.
