Distribution. The species is known only from the type locality, Atoll Clipperton.
Presently, the genus Sandyella includes 5 known species. All species were reported from the Eastern Pacific region from sublittoral waters deeper than 50 meters, in associations with black corals ( Hendrickx, 1990; Li, 2006; Li & Poupin, 2009).
