Description. Body length (incl. forewing): ♂, 8.2 mm; ♀, 9.7 mm; Head width (incl. eyes): ♂, 1.6 mm, ♀, 1.8 mm; head length: ♂, 1.7 mm, ♀, 2.4 mm. Crown ( Fig. 18 View FIGURES 18–26 ) about same length as pronotum and scutellum together.

Aedeagus without ventral process; shaft long, gradually narrowing towards apex in lateral view, shaft without apical processes, with thin and spiniform lateral process arising near midlength and extended distad along shaft ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 18–26 , marked by red arrow); apodeme bilobed with relatively short dorsolateral extensions ( Figs 24, 25 View FIGURES 18–26 ).

Female longer than male, with more acute and longer head, and head recurved dorsally ( Figs 21, 22 View FIGURES 18–26 ); sternite VII distinctly extended posteriorly in midline; ovipositor exceeding apex of pygofer.

Type material. Holotype ♂ ( NMNS), TAIWAN: Taichung, Gu Kuang Tai Dian Rd. ca. 1 km S Rt. 8, 1000m, 24°12'24"N 121°1'27"E, 26.vi.2004, C.H. Dietrich, 27-1, sweeping GoogleMaps . Paratypes: 1♂ 1♀ ( NWAFU, INHS), the same as holotype .

Etymology. The specific epithet, from “ spinatus ” meaning spiniferous, refers to aedeagal shaft with thin and spiniform lateral process ( Fig. 24 View FIGURES 18–26 , marked by red arrow).

Remarks. This species can be easily distinguished from other species of the genus by its long aedeagal shaft, lack of ventral processes, and presence of thin, spiniform lateral preapical processes ( Figs 25, 26 View FIGURES 18–26 ).
