3. Rhynchortalia wau sp. n.
( Figs. 3 View FIGURES 1–12 , 20 View FIGURES 18–29 , 38–41 View FIGURES 30–56 )
Diagnosis: This species can be distinguished by the dull, non–iridescent black elytra with yellowish apices ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–12 ), with fine, dense, somewhat matt–like punctures interspersed with larger punctures on disc, with the larger punctures more conspicuous on the lateral half; interspaces with strongly reticulate microsculpture; and anterior edge of hypomeral shelf distinctly visible in dorsal view. The male genitalia ( Figs. 38–41 View FIGURES 30–56 ) with broad, densely setose parameres and the siphonal apex are diagnostic.
Description: Length: 4.0–4.5 mm; width: 2.5–3.0 mm. Body ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 1–12 ) elongate oval, elytra broadest around shoulders, posteriorly tapering towards apices. Head and pronotum yellow, elytra black with yellowish apices. Antennae, mouthparts, prosternum, legs, and abdomen yellowish, scutellum yellowish brown to darker, meso– and metaventrites dark brown to black, metacoxae dark brown to black, abdominal ventrite 1 medially infuscate, postcoxal lines darker, brownish.
Head with frons deeply concave and depressed, eyes elongate with inner eye margins obtusely divergent below antennal insertions, finely punctate, interspaces weakly reticulate posteriorly, smoother and shinier towards clypeal margin. Pronotum with punctures fine, dense and shallowly impressed, separated by 1–3 diameters, slightly larger and more densely placed on lateral sides and anterolateral corners, interspaces reticulate. Elytra with distinct dual punctures, large punctures diffuse and somewhat irregular on disc, 2–3x as large as smaller punctures, separated by 3–7 diameters, smaller punctures dense on interstices, separated by 0.5–1 diameter, interspaces distinctly reticulate, matt–like, lateral sides with coarser punctures more prominent and more deeply impressed than those on disc. Prosternal intercoxal process medially narrowed. Pronotal hypomera with a prominent, somewhat triangular shelf–like projection on anterior inner half, its anterior edge projecting beyond anterior corner of pronotum and visible in dorsal view, posteriorly reaching procoxae, inner surface somewhat deeply impressed or foveate. Anterior margin of mesoventrite slightly emarginate. Abdominal ventrite 1 with shallow, complete postcoxal lines. Posterior margin of ventrite 5 shallowly emarginate; ventrite 6 ( Fig. 20 View FIGURES 18–29 ) with a deep, U–shaped notch, margins densely fimbriate with elongate setae. Male genitalia ( Figs. 38–41 View FIGURES 30–56 ) with broad paddle–shaped parameres much longer than penis guide, dense hairs present on outer and inner margins and inner surface, partially or fully covering penis guide in lateral view ( Fig. 38 View FIGURES 30–56 ); penis guide elongate cylindrical, gradually narrowed from base to a conical, acuminate apex in ventral view ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 30–56 ); penis ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 30–56 ) and penis apex ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 30–56 ) as illustrated.
