Etymology. The species name is a Greek and Latin female name of a person. We consider it to be a latinized noun used in apposition.
Type material: Holotype ♂, NEW CALEDONIA, Mt Koghi 500 m., 29.XI.1963, R. Straatman ( BPBM, # 7678).
Distribution. New Caledonia.
Remarks. The species is not re-described as the original description and illustrations are considered adequate.
Diagnosis. Rhotana lalage shows similarities to R. mendax sp. nov. from Australia. It can be separated from this species by the forewings bearing only two small marks distad of the clavus.
