Etymology. As stated by the authors, the species name is a Latin adjective (inoptatus, -a, -um = undesired).
Type material. Holotype ♂ (not examined), TAIWAN, N. Tungyaanshan, Nantou Hsien, 20–22.VII.1985, C. T. Yang, S.J. Fang ( NCHU).
Distribution. Taiwan
Diagnosis. The description and illustrations by the authors indicate some similarities to R. latipennis Walker from Borneo and to R. maculata Matsumura from Taiwan and Japan. The species is well defined by the cluster of four dark marks on the forewings, around the middle of Cu1 and Ms1b.
