Rhinogobius flumineus (Mizuno 1960) View in CoL
( Figs. 4 – 7 View FIGURE 4 View FIGURE 5 View FIGURE 6 View FIGURE 7 )
Holotype: TKPM-P 3000 , female, 37.0 mm SL, Sojya-gawa River , Oshita, Ochi District, Ehime, Japan, 31 August 1959, N. Mizuno.
Paratypes: All paratypes collected with holotype. TKPM-P 3001 , female, 34.2 mm SL ; TKPM-P 3002 , male, 33.5 mm SL ; TKPM-P 3003 , male, 32.3 mm SL ; TKPM-P 3004 , male, 38.2 mm SL ; TKPM-P 3005 , female, 34.3 mm SL .
Remarks. Mizuno (1960b) noted that while he had preserved the type specimens of the species in “my collection,” each type specimen had not been individually assigned a number. After TKPM received these type specimens, TKPM-P registration numbers were assigned to the holotype and five paratypes.
Specimen jars containing the holotype and paratypes were labeled with their type status, localities, and collection dates. The collection date indicated on these jar labels was 31 August 1959, whereas Mizuno (1960b) erroneously described the collection date of the holotype and paratypes as 30 August 1959.
In Mizuno (1960b), neither the vertebral count nor details of the cephalic sensory system of each of the type specimens of R. flumineus were provided. Herein, in Fig. 6 View FIGURE 6 , we present an illustration of the cephalic sensory system of the holotype, as well as the vertebral counts (abdominal + caudal) of the holotype and five paratypes as follows: TKPM-P 3000 : 11+17, TKPM-P 3001 : 11+16, TKPM-P 3002 : 11+17, TKPM-P 3003 : 11+17, TKPM-P 3004 : 11+17, TKPM-P 3005 : 11+17.
