Comments

Friese (1922) distinguished R. denticrus from R. rufiventris mainly on color differences. In their figure 11, Roberts & Brooks (1987) also called attention to the color differences between what they considered Central American and Peruvian forms of R. dentricus . Considering the significant structural differences between these two ‘forms’, presented in the above key, the synonymy proposed by Roberts & Brooks (1987) is unjustified.

Male diagnosis

Head erect pubescence dark brown. Clypeus with conspicuous longitudinal striae; supraclypeal area with strong transverse striae which extend across the middle. Legs and terga dark brown, with some portions amber. Hind leg with ventral femoral tooth long and acute. Erect setae on T4T6 dark brown, decumbent hairs relatively sparse and not entirely covering the terga. S7–8 and genitalia as in Figs. 10 View FIGURES 8 – 11 and 12–14 View FIGURES 12 – 17 , respectively.
