Type material. Holotype female, Colombia, Monte Tolima, 3200 m, Colom. Centr. Cord. Coll Fassl.

Taxonomic history and remarks. This species was described in the genus Thecla by Draudt (1919) based on a female specimen from the central cordillera (Monte Tolima) in Colombia. Subsequently, Johnson (1992) transferred it to Rhamma .

Distribution and variability. This species is distributed widely in Colombia; specimens have been collected from Nariño in southern Colombia to the northern tip of the central cordillera in Antioquia (Belmira). Specimens from Belmira (Antioquia) have a shorter anal lobe than individuals from central Colombia. Variation in size and wing color is slight.

Diagnosis. This species is distinguishable from other Rhamma species by having a conspicuous lighter white band crossing the medial area of the ventral hindwing from the costa to vein CuA2 and by its elongate anal lobes. Although other species in the genus may have lighter areas on the ventral hindwing, these are not as clear and sharp as in R. adunca .
