Chiroscelidae Hope, 1840a: 127 [stem: Chiroscelid-]. Type genus: Chiroscelis Lamarck, 1804. Comment: published before 30 September 1840; Bouchard et al. (2005: 524) treated this name and Chiroscelites Laporte (1840b [before 26 December]: 216) as nomina oblita; incorrect original stem formation, not in prevailing usage.

Pycnocerides Lacordaire, 1859: 399 [stem: Pycnocer-]. Type genus: Pycnocerus Westwood, 1841. Comment: nomen protectum (see Bouchard et al. 2005: 524); original vernacular name available (Art. 11.7.2): first used in latinized form by Kolbe (1887: 50, as Pycnoceridae ), generally accepted as in Bouchard et al. (2005: 501, as Pycnocerini ).

Prioscelina Skopin, 1964: 30, in key [stem: Prioscelid-]. Type genus: Prioscelis Hope, 1840. Comment: incorrect original stem formation, not in prevailing usage.
