Basionym:— Uredo kyllingae-brevifoliae Deitel (= U. kyllingiae-brevifoliae Deitel )

Type:— Holotype in TNS (F230206); II, III on Kyllinga brevifolia Rottb. , Japan, Kochi Prefecture, 6 June 1903, T. Yoshinaga. Isotypes in TNS (F191567) and S (F235026) .

Description:—See Hiratsuka et al. (1992).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:— II, III on Cyperus brevifolius var. leiolepis (Franch. & Sav.) T. Koyama [= Kyllinga brevifolia var. leiolepis (Franch. & Sav.) H. Hara ] (Hon, Shi, Kyu, Ryu) (Ito & Murayama 1938, Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Morimoto 1969, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:— Hiratsuka et al. (1992) treated Uredo kyllingae Henn. ( Hennings 1896) as a synonym of this species, but its identity should be re-examined. This species has been reported from China and Taiwan ( Tai 1979, Hiratsuka & Chen 1991, Zhuang et al. 1998).
