Puccinia caricis-montanae E. Fisch.

Homotypic synonym:— Dicaeoma caricis-montanae (E. Fisch.) Syd. ; Puccinia arenariicola var. caricis-montanae (E. Fisch.) Zwetko

Type:— Holotype or lectotype has not been designated, but syntypes and related specimens have been deposited in BPI (053842), GZU (000294703) and S (F32529, 32531).

Description:—See Hiratsuka et al. (1992).

Hosts and distribution in Japan:— II, III on Carex lanceolata Boott (Hok, Hon) ( Ito 1950, Hiratsuka 1960, Hiratsuka et al. 1992).

Notes:—Spermogonial and aecial stages have been reported to be produced on species of Centaurea , but these stages have not been found in Japan ( Ito 1950). This species is widely distributed in Europe ( Hiratsuka et al. 1992), but its distribution in Japan needs to be re-examined because Azbukina (2005) treated specimens collected in Russian Far East as Puccinia dioicae var. arenariicola (Plowr.) D.M. Hend.
