Ptiloneura otunensis Carrejo, González & García Aldrete View in CoL
( Figs 80–91 View FIGURES 80–85 View FIGURES 86–91 )
Diagnosis. Close to P. timancoi n. sp., differing from it in having the central sclerite of the hypandrium with two median, slender, distally pointed posterior processes, well separated, flanked by asymmetric lateral processes as illustrated ( Fig. 83 View FIGURES 80–85 ). It also differs in the phallosome, particularly in the shape of the lateral endophallic sclerites and in the shape and processes of the transverse mesal endophallic sclerite ( Fig. 85 View FIGURES 80–85 ).
Male. Color. Body brown. Head pale brown, with dark brown spots ( Fig. 82 View FIGURES 80–85 ); two oblique ochre bands from the inner margin of each compound eye to the epistomal sulcus, surrounding the antennal fossae. Compound eyes black, ocelli hyaline, with ochre centripetal crescents. Vertex pale brown. Postclypeus with oblique brown slender bands on each side, pale brown in the middle; clypeus and labrum pale brown. Genae brown. Postgenae cream. Antennae: scape and pedicel pale brown, flagellomeres pale brown, with apices cream. Maxillary palps pale brown, Mx4 dark brown. Tergal lobes of meso- and metathorax brown. Thoracic pleura light brown. Legs: fore-, middle coxae and trochanters pale brown, with basal ochre spot; hind coxae, trochanters and femora cream, femora with small apical ochre spots; tibiae and tarsi pale brown. Forewings hyaline, with a marginal brown band from R4+5 to 1A, pterostigma dark brown, sometimes with a small hyaline circular area in the lower angle, veins brown. Hindwings hyaline, veins brown. Abdomen light brown, with small creamy spots. Clunium pale brown; phallosome dark brown; hypandrium dark brown; paraprocts and epiproct light brown with ochre subcuticular spots.
Morphology. Head ( Fig. 82 View FIGURES 80–85 ) H/MxW: 1.44; compound eyes large, H/d: 3.49; IO/MxW: 0.74; vertex at the same level as the upper border of the compound eyes; outer cusp of lacinial tips broad, with 7 denticles. Mx4/Mx2: 1.08. Forewings ( Fig. 80 View FIGURES 80–85 ) L/W: 2.69; pterostigma: lp/wp: 6.31; M six branched, M6 forked distally; areola postica: la/ha: 1.64, tall, wide, distally rounded. Hindwings ( Fig. 81 View FIGURES 80–85 ) l/w: 2.84; M four branched. Central sclerite of the hypandrium with two median, tapered elongated posterior processes, flanked by lateral processes forked, asymmetric ( Fig. 83 View FIGURES 80–85 ), with fields of macrosetae on each side of the longitudinal midline, that reach or surpass the apices of the median posterior processes. Phallosome ( Fig. 85 View FIGURES 80–85 ) anteriorly V-shaped, with wide side struts; external parameres sclerotized, elongate, with rounded apex. Phallosome with five endophallic sclerites; anterior pair oval, overlapped with the proximal area of the lateral endophallic sclerites; lateral pair large, laminar, curved downward and posteriorly, with tapered processes directed antero-laterally. Mesal sclerite M-shaped; side processes slender, elongate, median process wide, triangular, posterior sclerites long, slender, hooked distally. Paraprocts ( Fig. 84 View FIGURES 80–85 ) oval, with setal fields as illustrated; sensory fields with 28 trichobothria on basal rosettes. Epiproct ( Fig. 84 View FIGURES 80–85 ) slightly convex anteriorly, broadly rounded posteriorly, with setae as illustrated and a field of microsetae along posterior border.
