Ptereleotris zebra (Fowler 1938) —Zebra dartfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken in Albatross Passage, southwestern Kavieng District, at 3–39 m depth, St. KR51, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Mozambique Channel, Seychelles and western Mascarenes east to Line Islands and Marquesas Islands, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to New South Wales ( Australia), New Caledonia and Lord Howe Island. Found in exposed areas near reefs, 2–10 m depth. Marine.
