Figures 1 View FIGURE 1 B, 3, 9C–D, Map 1
Description. Male. Body medium, macropterous. Fastigium verticis protruding forwards, conical, robust and short, depressed, width about one third as broad as scape, dorsal surface with an obviously longitudinal furrow. Occiput with a distinctly longitudinal carina. Eyes spherical, obviously protruding outwards; median ocellus distinct and two lateral ocelli indistinct. Disc of pronotum smooth, posterior transverse sulcus comparatively distinct; lateral lobes longer than high; humeral sinus distinct. Prosternum with 1 pair of spine-shaped processes; mesosternum with 1 pair of long-digitiform processes, basal area swollen; metasternum with 1 pair of acuteangular processes. Tegmina and hind wings long, surpassing apices of hind femora, tegmina slightly shorter than hind wings. All femora glabrous, unarmed dorsally. Fore coxa with 1 thin and sharp spine; femur with 2 or 4 small spines on internal side of ventral surface, unarmed dorsally, apices of genicular lobes obtusely rounded; tibial tympana open on both sides, oval, fore tibia equipped with 1 long internal spine on dorsal surface, 4 pairs of spines on ventral surface, with 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 1 pair of ventral apical spurs. Middle femur with 1 small external spine on ventral surface, apices of genicular lobes with 1 small spine or not; tibia with 3 spines on internal side and 2 spines on external side of dorsal surface, and 4 pairs of spines on ventral surface, apices with 1 pair of dorsal spurs and 1 pair of ventral spurs. Hind femur with obviously pinnate stripes on external side of dorsal surface, and poorly developed on both sides of ventral surface, and equipped with 3 small spines on both sides of ventral surface, apices of genicular lobes with 1 small spine or not; tibia with 10–11 spines on both sides of dorsal surface, with 1 internal spine and 3 external spines on ventral surface, and 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 3 pairs of ventral apical spurs.
Ninth abdominal tergite arched, with 1 pair of small triangular sclerotized lobes; tenth abdominal tergite with 1 pair of short sclerotized hooks widely separated which upturned over the lobes of ninth abdominal tergite. Epiproct large, triangular; paraproct specialized, with 2 long sclerotized processes. Cerci long, about 3 times as long as subgenital plate, stout at the base, narrowing, apices acute. Subgenital plate almost rectangle, with a V-shaped incision in the middle of posterior margin, about a quarter of the length of subgenital plate. Styli developed, longer, with a longitudinal groove on ventral surface.
Female. It is similar to male in appearance. Body smaller. Cerci long, conical. Subgenital plate broad at the base, narrowing. Ovipositor upcurved, basal area stout, narrowing, apex obtusely rounded.
Coloration. Body darkish brown. Fastigium verticis with a longitudinal brown stripe in the midline. Occiput yellow, with 5 irregularly longitudinal brown stripes, the broad brown stripe in the midline, two pairs of lateral stripes narrow and indistinct. Eyes yellowish brown, with some black spots; ocelli yellow. Antennae with brownish scape and darkish brown flagellum, with many light rings of mulriple size along the entire flagellum. Pronotum yellow, with some irregular brown stripes. Tegmina yellowish brown, with some irregular spots.
Mesurements (mm). Body: ♂24.5, ♀25.2; pronotum: ♂7.2, ♀8.3; hind femur: ♂20.9, ♀20.8; hind tibia: ♂22.3, ♀22.2; tegmen: ♂31.1, ♀32.4; ovipositor: 19.1.
Material examined. Holotype: male, Huangjing, Luzhou, Sichuan, 18 July 2002, collected by Ming Bai. Paratype: 1 female, Yonghong, Mabian, Sichuan, 23 July 2004, collected by Fuming Shi.
Discussion. The male of the new species is similar to Pteranabropsis parallelus Wang, Liu & Li, 2015 . It can be distinguished from the latter in: the depth of the incision of subgenital plate; and longitudinal brown stripes on occiput.
Distribution. China (Sichuan).
Etymology. Named after the character of male subgenital plate.
