( Figs. 5 View FIGURES 1–6 , 11 View FIGURES 7–12 , 21 View FIGURES 17–22 , 27 View FIGURES 23–28 , 33 View FIGURES 29–34 , 39 View FIGURES 35–40 , 45 View FIGURES 41–46 , 51 View FIGURES 47–52 , 57 View FIGURES 53–58 , 63 View FIGURES 59–64 )
Material examined. Holotype: apterous male, CHINA, Shaanxi Prov., Hua County, Shaohuashan National Forest Park, 15 August 2015, Zhen Ye leg ( NKUM) . Paratypes: CHINA, Shaanxi Prov.: 2 apterous females, same data as holotype ( NKUM) .
Diagnosis. The genital segments ( Figs. 39 View FIGURES 35–40 , 45 View FIGURES 41–46 , 51 View FIGURES 47–52 , 57 View FIGURES 53–58 , 63 View FIGURES 59–64 ) of P. shannxiensis sp. nov. are quite similar to those of P. tibialis tibialis Esaki & Miyamoto, 1955 . However, P. shannxiensis sp. nov. can be distinguished by the process on hind tarsal segment I ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 29–34 ) and the anterior margin of the middle tibia ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 23–28 ) without a tuft of stout bristles.
Description. Apterous male ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 1–6 ). Color: ground color dark-brown, head black, clypeus brown, rostum yellowish-brown with black apex, buccula dark-brown; antennal segment I yellowish-brown, apical part infuscated, segments II–IV brown; pronotum yellowish-brown, with dense black spots on posterior part, lateral part of metanotum black; legs ( Figs. 21 View FIGURES 17–22 , 27 View FIGURES 23–28 , 33 View FIGURES 29–34 ) mainly yellowish-brown, femora yellowish, apical part of femora infuscated, tibiae and tarsi yellowish-brown, grasping combs brown; mediotergites black, connexiva black with dull-orange margin, lateral part of mediotergite I, medial parts of mediotergites II, III, VI, VII and lateral margins of connexival segments I–V with prominent silvery pubescence; abdominal segment VIII ( Figs. 39 View FIGURES 35–40 , 51 View FIGURES 47–52 ), pygophore ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 59–64 ) and proctiger pale-yellowish, each of them weakly infuscated apically. Structural characteristics: body small-sized, relatively stout, oval-like, bearing short, grayish setae, area around eyes and antennal segment I covered by relatively few, longer, grayish setae, outer margin of eyes covered by relatively dense, short, silver pubescence. Head short and wide, relatively perpendicular to thorax, without inflection; buccula not produced posteriorly; eyes bare except for the presence of two ocular setae. Pronotum relatively broad, bearing dense, dark punctures on the posterior portion of lobe, anterior and hind pronotal margins nearly straight; metanotum completely hidden beneath pronotal lobe except laterally. Fore tibia ( Fig. 21 View FIGURES 17–22 ) with widened apex, covered with dense, short, brown setae, medial part of venter on fore tibia with slight process, grasping comb relatively thin; middle femur ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 23–28 ) covered with dense, short, grayish setae, middle tibia covered with dense, short, brown setae and few, long, suberect, brown hairs; hind tibia ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 29–34 ) slightly curved, covered with dense, suberect, brown and bristle-like setae, apical part of lateral margin of hind tarsal segment I with a tuft of suberect, long, black bristles, apical part of hind tarsal segment I with a distinct process ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 29–34 ), ventral arolium bristle-like. Abdomen almost flat, connexiva slightly raised, with suberect, few, long and brown setae; abdominal venter flat. Genital segments: small, segment VIII ( Figs. 39 View FIGURES 35–40 , 45 View FIGURES 41–46 , 51 View FIGURES 47–52 , 57 View FIGURES 53–58 ) relatively stout, about 2.0 times as long as wide, hind margin with a very few, long, brown, suberect setae, ventrally with subtriangular depression, hind margin of the depression with a tuft of short, bristle-like setae; lateral margin of depression with a pair of bristle-like setae, longitudinal midline of the depression bearing a row of short setae apically; hind margin of pygophore ( Fig. 63 View FIGURES 59–64 ) with very short, erect, yellowish setae; proctiger small, hind margin with dense, short, yellowish setae; parameres symmetrical, small, with widened apex.
Apterous female ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7–12 ). Color: similar to male. Structural characteristics: body small-sized; structure of head including antenna as in male; hind margin of pronotum straight; fore tibia without grasping comb, hind tibia and tarsus not modified, venter of hind tarsal segment I lacking black, long bristles; abdomen pleurally and ventrally without special modifications, connexiva slightly raised, converging posteriorly and touching caudally; end of abdomen raised in lateral view, gonocoxa I elongate, proctiger brown, with dense, short hairs.
Macropterous female and macropterous male: unknown.
Measurements. Apterous male. Body length: 2.00, head width: 0.51, head length: 0.30, head width about 1.70 times head length; antenna about 0.60 times as long as body, length of antennal segments I–IV: 0.33, 0.24, 0.25, 0.38; pronotum width: 0.70, pronotum length: 0.35, about 2.00 times as wide as long; length of grasping comb 0.25, about 0.50 times tibial length; length of leg segments (femur, tibia and tarsus): fore leg: 0.50, 0.56, 0.30, middle leg: 0.79, 0.83, 0.54 (0.18+0.36), hind leg: 0.73, 1.00, 0.69 (0.19+0.50).
