Diagnosis. Pselaphomorphus tucumanensis is characterized by the combination of triangular head, medium body size (between 2.0 and 3.0 mm), presence of obtuse spines in the basal region of the lateral lobes of the pronotum; can be differentiated from P. longiceps by the median lobe of aedeagus complete and flattened and the accessory lobe complete.
Description. Male. Body length 2.2 mm. Body flattened dorsally, reddish with yellow pilosity. Head triangular (length 0.5 mm, width 0.45 mm), base of antennal tubercle shorter than diameter of eye. Longitudinal sulcus wide, occupying at least 1/3 width of head. Eyes kidney-shaped (diameter 0.15 mm). Antennal length around 1 mm (two last antennomeres missing). Antennomere length as follows: 1 (0.1 mm), 2 and 3 (0.06 mm), 4 (0.05 mm), 5 (0.06 mm), 6 (0.04 mm), 7 (0.07 mm), 8 and 9 (0.06 mm), 9 (0.06 mm), clava conspicuous. Maxillary palpi yellowish with short, clear and even pilosity. Pronotum transverse (length 0.4 mm, width 0.45 mm). Lateral lobes triangular, basally and apically rounded. Antebasal lobe rectangular, laterally armed with spines projected posteriorly. Pronotal disc rectangular. Elytra length 0.7 mm, width 0.75 mm. Humeral teeth and elevation present. Sutural fovea transversely elongate, sutural stria lineal. Basal discal fovea transversely elongate, discal depression present. Abdominal tergite I–V dorsally with length as follows: 0.35, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1 (mm). Genitalia. Phallobase regular, with short arms, symmetrical. Median lobe flattened, accessory lobe located ventrally to median lobe, distally cylindrical ( Figs. 32 View FIGURE 32 B, 32C).
Type material. Holotype (male): “ Argentina, Tucuman, San Javier, X-77, 1100 m. R. Goldback” ( MHNG). Etymology. Named after the province of Tucuman in Argentina where the holotype was collected.
