Original diagnosis. “This species differs from all the others in having longer elytra, barely visibly carinate at base, with small shoulders. Frons forms a kind of tubercle shaped as long square, limited posteriorly by deep transverse depression, and constitutes a slightly raised snout less compressed on the sides.

This species, although closely linked to its congeners, forms a small group apart and I would not be surprised if Gamba elongata and [G.] rugicollis described by Schaufuss from the Pampas and unknown to me, belonged to this group of Pselaphomorphus .“

Original description. “Elongate, anteriorly and posteriorly attenuate, all red, densely covered in short hairs. Head elongate, triangular, convex, with rounded tempora, vertex between eyes transversely and deeply impressed, frons quadrate-elongate, elevate and sulcate. Eyes small, medially located. Antennae fairly elongate, barely incrassate at apex, without clava. Antennomers cylindrical, 2 quadrate, 3–5 one half longer than wide, 6 slightly shorter, 7–10 twice as long as wide, 11 thrice as long as wide, acuminate. Prothorax ovate, цшер transverse sulcus before base, sides longitudinally sulcated. Elytra as wide as long, basally narrow, humeri rounded, base hardly evidently transversely carinate, bifoveate, sutural stria complete, dorsal stria absent. Abdomen slightly longer than elytra, lateral sides widely bordered, slightly rounded, apex narrow, first dorsal segment large, 2nd large, 3rd, 4th and 5th equal, 6th about triangular. Metasternum medially convex and sulcate. Legs long and slender. Female.”
