Material examined. CHINA: Yunnan: 1 3 (CLW), Honghe, Gejiu City, Hekou County, V.2007; 1 Ƥ (CLW), Honghe, Gejiu City, Hekou County, IX.1999.
Identification. This species was originally described from northern Vietnam in the genus Eligmodontus (type species E. arcuatus Houlbert ). There is no confusion in identifying this species as only one P. arcuatus -like species has been known from the area around the type locality in northern Vietnam and southern Yunnan. Fujita (2010) recorded and illustrated the female for the first time.
The male from southern Yunnan examined by us matches the original description of P. kanghianus kanghianus . The female from the same locality of the male examined by us was not collected together with the male; it was identified as P. kanghianus kanghianus because it has different genitalia from the other female Prismognathus from the same area. Therefore the correct identification of the female of P. kanghianus kanghianus needs to be confirmed.
Nagai (2005) described P. kanghianus kittii from northern Myanmar which differs from P. kanghianus kanghianus by the smaller eyes and the lateral angles of pronotum more sharply protruding.
Distribution. Southern Yunnan (Hekou); northern Vietnam, northeastern Myanmar.
