Range: —Antilles; Mexico to Bolivia (BE, CH, CO, P, SC, TA), Argentina, Paraguay, and Brazil.
Ecology: —Common; epiphytic and in rock crevices; 200–2500 m. The leaves are deciduous in the dry season and are often found on the forest floor, but the thick rhizomes survive unsuitable climatic conditions.
Notes: —Differs from P. decumanum by the sori located in 1 row between the costae and pinna margins, smaller overall size, and often glaucous blades. A diploid species.
