Type locality. Strait of Karimata , Indonesia ( Ii 1964) .
Record from Thailand. South-eastern Andaman Sea, next to Phuket Island ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002).
Habitat and depth range. Marine, depth: 28–63 m ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002) .
Distribution. This species is distributed from Indonesia ( Ii 1964), Strait of Malacca (O.S. Tattersall 1965), South China Sea ( Liu & Wang 1986), East China Sea ( Wang & Liu 1997), India ( Panampunnayil 1998; Biju et al. 2014), Arabian Sea ( Biju & Panampunnayil 2011) to Andaman Sea ( Fukuoka & Murano 2002).
Remarks. The term inscita is not accepted due to the incorrect gender ending, therefore, the valid name of the species is inscitus ( Mees & Meland 2022d) .
