Platyderus magrinii Degiovanni, 2005 View in CoL
( Figs. 2 View FIGURES 1 - 6 , 12 View FIGURES 11 - 18 )
Material examined. 1 male, labelled “Mte. Graeco Panagetti” / “H.E.Andrewes Coll. 1945–97.” ( BMNH); 2 males, 1 female, labelled “Mte Graeco” / “ Italia ” / “Collectie C. & O. Vogt Acq. 1960” ( ZMAN); 1 male, labelled “Mte. Pagano Panagetti” / “ v. neapolitanus Rche ” / “H.E.Andrewes Coll. 1945–97.” ( BMNH); 1 male, labelled “Mte. Pagano Panagetti” / “coll. Leonhard” / “Tausch von Dahlem 4.1935” / ssp. neapolitanus Rche. ” / “ canaliculatus Chd. ” / “F. van Emden Bequest. B.M. 1960–129.” ( BMNH); 2 males, 2 females, labelled “Mte. Pagano Panagetti” / “coll D. v.d. HOOP ” ( ZMAN); 1 male, labelled “Berge südl. v. Castel di Sangro” / “Museum Leiden Ex coll. B.H. Klynstra” / “ Platyd. canal. neapolitanus A. Winkler ” ( NNM); 1 female, labelled “Berge südl. von Castel di Sangro leg. Paganetti.” / “ Platyd. canal. neapolitanus A. Winkler ” / “Museum Leiden Ex coll. B.H. Klynstra” / “ v. neapolitanus Rche ” ( NNM); 2 males, 4 females, labelled “Castel di Sangro Prov. di Aquila leg. Paganetti.” ( MSNG).
Male genitalia (genitalia of 3 specimens studied). Median lobe of aedeagus widest and somewhat humpbacked in middle, apex slightly curved ventrally (inclination of apex at 20–25º in relation to medial part of ventral margin) ( Fig. 2 View FIGURES 1 - 6 ); same in ventral view thinner apically ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 - 18 ). Copulatory piece convex laterally, ventrally bilobed in front ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 11 - 18 ).
Notes. The study of the genitalia of male specimens from the Monte Greco, Monte Pagano and Castel di Sangro demonstrated that three populations belong to P. magrinii . This species is differentiated from the close P. neapolitanus and P. paganettii sp. n. only by the structure of the aedeagus and the shape of the copulatory piece. It is worth noting that, contrary to the observation of Degiovanni (2005), a full reduction of the basal bead of pronotum was found only in the specimens from Monte Greco and in a single specimen from Monte Pagano; all remaining specimens possess a fine basal bead. Besides, none of studied specimens has sides of pronotum laterally sinuate near base.
