ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: 1845d: 33.

TYPE LOCALITY: “ prope Padum in ditione Parmensi [Parmese territory near the Po river ( Italy)]” .

TYPE MATERIAL: 1 ♀, holotype (missing right wing and left fore-leg) ( MZUF: Box 9): Phytomyptera Rnd. / nitidiventris Rnd. / 448 / holotype ♀, Phytomyptera Rnd. nitidiventris Rnd. , det. Stig. Andersen / Phytomyptera nigrina (Meig.) , det. Stig. Andersen.

CURRENT STATUS: junior synonym of Phytomyptera nigrina ( Meigen, 1824) ( Andersen 1988: 59, Herting & Dely- Draskovits 1993: 323, O’Hara et al. 2020: 668).

REMARKS: Rondani (1845d: 33) described Phytomyptera nitidiventris without specifying either the number or the sex of the specimens, but giving a single measurement of length. Andersen (1988: 59) considered the single specimen in the MZUF as the holotype.
