Homotypic synonym: Phyllorkis cylindracea (Wall. ex Lindl.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 677, 1891.
Specimens examined:— KACHIN. Putao District : 1830 m, 26 Oct 1926, Kingdon-Ward 7621 ( K) ; same loc., 1220 m, 18 Nov 1953, Kingdon-Ward 21620 ( BM) ; same loc., Dec 2015, Saw Lwin KSL 1036 ( RAF) . Also reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 66) [under Bulbophyllum khasyanum ], but we have not seen any material from this area.
Distribution:— The Himalayas to Myanmar, Thailand and southwestern China.
Bulbophyllum dayanum Rchb. f., Gard. Chron. 1865: 434, 1865. Type :— MYANMAR. Without locality: 1865, imp. Low s.n., cult. Day s.n. (holotype: W)
Homotypic synonym: Phyllorkis dayana (Rchb.f.) Kuntze, Revis. Gen . Pl. 2: 677, 1891.
Specimens examined:— SHAN. Unspecified : illegible s.n. ( K) . MON.? Mawlamyine District: Parish 358 (not located, possibly K), fide Parish (1883: 190; incorrectly printed and erroneously listed under Bulbophyllum nasutum ) and Grant (1895: 39); same loc., 1874, cult. RBG Kew s.n. ( K). WITHOUT LOCALITY. Type. Reported from Tanintharyi Region by Kress et al. (2003: 66), but we have not seen any material from this area.
Distribution:— Myanmar, Thailand, Indochina and Peninsular Malaysia.
Note:— Day’s scrapbooks at Kew may contain a drawing of the type when alive.
