Valid name: Hipposideros ater Templeton, 1848
Holotype: ZMB 2529 View Materials , body in alcohol, skull extracted, male; Paracali, Luzon, Philippines; collected by F. Jagor, between 1857 and 1861.
Comment: Tate (1941b: 380) did not find this specimen while he visited Berlin in 1937, but it was present when the collections were studied for this catalogue.
