Phycus rufofemoratus Kröber, 1913: 11 . Type locality: "Arab. fel. Ehrbg.". Holotype female, Germany, Berlin, Museum für Naturkunde der Humboldt-Universität (ZMHB).
Paraphycus piceus Becker, 1922: 63 . Type locality: "Khartum 25.IV / Aegypt. Sudan /Ebner 1914". Holotype female, location not known (synonymy by Lyneborg 1978).
Local distribution. Lower Nile.
Geographical distribution. Cameroon, Egypt, Ethiopia, Jordan, Mauritius, Niger, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen.
Specimens examined. Cairo 10.X.1956 (1 male), Ain Shams 19.V.2010 (1 male) (ASUC); Fayoum Karoun 14.VIII.1948 (1 female), 29.VIII.1948 (1 male); Giza 2.X.1952 (1 male) (CUC); Kerdasa 11.VI.1933 (1 male) (MAC).
Remarks. Phycus rufofemoratus is here recorded in Egypt for the first time.
