Philodina parvicalcar De Koning, 1947 View in CoL
Figure 5 View FIGURE 5
Material. Two specimens found in mosses around Jangyeol-ri, Bukpyeong-myeon, Jeongseon-gun, Gangwon-do.
The spurs of Philodina parvicalcar seem to be morphologically similar to those of P. koreana Song & Lee ; however, the outer margin of interspace between spurs overhangs the dorsal margin of the spur pseudosegment in P. parvicalcar , while that coincides with the dorsal margin of the spur pseudosegment in P. koreana ( Song & Lee 2017) . In addition, this species is easily distinguished from P. koreana by the morphology of disc retractor. The disc retractor of P. koreana is slightly convex and trilobed medially while that of P. parvicalcar is U-shaped with convex sides and bilobed medially ( Fig. 5a View FIGURE 5 ). De Koning (1947) didn’t mention the morphology of disc retractor in the original description and Bielańska-Grajner et al. (2011) didn’t, either, in their report on Polish bdelloids.
The upper lips of the Korean specimens were arched and very slightly notched medially, which is similar to the upper lip in Fig. 38e of the original illustration. The spurs of the Korean specimens were very small, fingertipshaped and most similar to spurs in Fig. 38c of the original illustration ( De Koning 1947).
This species is very rare and has been reported from only two countries, Turkey ( Kaya 2013; Kaya et al. 2009) and Poland ( Bielańska-Grajner et al. 2011), after the description from the Netherlands by De Koning (1947). Measurements. Corona width 61 μm. Cingulum width 46 μm. Cingulum pad width 48 μm. Spur length 3 μm.
