Peritropisca laticostata Wolski & Gorczyca sp. nov.
(Figures 2, 4, 17–22, 24, 28)
Diagnosis. Recognized by posterior lobe of pronotum with medial keel strongly convex (Figs. 4, 28), semicircular in lateral view (Figs. 4, 28), pretarsal claw with distinct subapical tooth, characteristic shape of endosoma ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ), apical process of left paramere in dorsal view with distinctly sharpened and elongated extreme apex and with relatively shallow subapical incision ( Fig. 19 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ), and right paramere with apical tubercle on inner surface of paramere body (AT) well developed ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ).
Description. Male. COLORATION (Figs. 2–4). Dorsum mostly brownish dark brown with dirty yellowish areas. Head. Entirely dirty yellowish brown; antennal segment I brown with small yellowish patch situated near base on inner surface; segment II entirely dark brownish; segment III blackish; segment IV missing in examined specimen; labium entirely brownish with indistinct, dirty yellowish areas. Thorax. Pronotum. Entirely dark brown to blackish (Fig. 2). Mesoscutum and scutellum. Blackish dark brown with paler, dirty yellowish apex (Fig. 2). Thoracic pleura. Dark brown except for paler, brown metepisternum; scent gland efferent system contrastingly yellow (Fig. 4). Hemelytron. Mostly dark with brownish dirty yellowish and reddish mottling; membrane blackish with yellowish areas medially and apically (Fig. 2). Legs. Procoxa dark reddish with fuscous areas medially and apically; meso- and metacoxae almost entirely contrastingly yellow except for fuscous red, relatively small patch basally; profemur reddish brown; meso- and metafemur with reddish fuscous basal two thirds, apical fuscous annulation, and subapical yellowish annulation; tibiae brownish with protibia somewhat darker, almost dark brown; tarsi dirty yellowish (Figs. 2, 4). Abdomen. Reddish with yellowish mottling (Fig. 4). STRUCTURE, TEXTURE, AND VESTITURE (Figs. 2, 4, 24, 28). Dorsum covered with almost linear setae, very weakly broadened toward apex. Thorax. Pronotum. Calli elevated, obtuse; posterior lobe of pronotum with medial semicircular, strongly convex rib (Fig. 4, 28). Mesoscutum and scutellum. Scutellum with distinct, longitudinal elevation medially (Fig. 2). Legs. Pretarsal claw toothed subapically.
Male genitalia. Aedeagus ( Fig. 17 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ). Endosoma with DSS terminated with semicircular, serrate lobe; ML relatively small, rounded, occupying approximately one third of endosoma; AL nearly ellipsoidal, enlarged, occupying about one third of endosoma. Left paramere ( Figs. 18–21 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ). Apical process relatively long, in dorsal view with sinuate margins, strongly sharpened and elongated extreme apex and with relatively shallow subapical incision. Right paramere ( Fig. 22 View FIGURES 11 – 22 ). Paramere body with apical tubercle on inner surface of paramere body (AT) well developed and with bundle of moderately dense setae on dorsal surface; apical process sharply pointed.
Measurements. Holotype ♂: Body. Length 4.5, width 1.9. Head. Length 0.7, width 0.8, interocular distance 0.38. Antenna. Length of segment I 0.5, II 1.4, III 0.5. Labium. Length of segment I 0.63, II 0.63, III 0.6, IV 0.41. Pronotum. Length 0.95, width of anterior margin 0.85, length of lateral margin 1.0, width of posterior margin 1.6.
Female. Unknown.
Etymology. The specific epithet is taken from the Latin “latus” broad and “costatus” ribbed and is used to denote the distinctly elevated, semicircular medial rib on the posterior lobe of pronotum (Fig. 4).
Biology. Unknown.
Distribution. Indonesia (Irian Jaya: Jayawijaya).
Type material. Holotype ♂: 28–29.IX.1991, Irian Jaya, Jayawijaya-Prov., Angguruk-Tanggeam, 1500– 1800m, leg. A. Riedel ( ZSM) (Figs. 2, 4).
