Journal of the Linnean Society. Botany 22: 516 (1887). — Euphorbia pedilanthoides Denis, Les euphorbiées des îles australes d’Afrique: 76, figs 19, 20 (1921). — Non Euphorbia lycioides Boiss., Centuria Euphorbiarum (1860) . — Type: s.l., Baron 4772 (lecto, K! [K000158067], here designated; isolecto-, K! [K000185062], P! [P00078066]).
REMARK
Denis (1921) could not use the name “ Euphorbia lycioides ”, because this one was used in 1860 by Boissier (1860) for a Brazilian plant and thus renamed Pedilanthus lycioides Baker which should be called Euphorbia pedilanthoides Denis.
Note the existence at P of an ambiguous syntype: Baron 4772 and 4792 mounted on one sheet ( P! [ P00078066 ]) .
