Diagnosis. The medium-sized, robust, black bee is the only species belonging to the subgenus Lomatalictus . This species is easy to identify due to the morphological characters of this subgenus.
Description
Female. Bl = 7,0– 7,6mm. General habitus ( Fig. 49e View FIGURE 49 ). Head. L = 1,7–1,8mm; W = 2,3–2,5mm. Head much wider than long ( Fig. 49a View FIGURE 49 ). Integument black except mandibles partly reddish-brown. Face rather dull, with loose, long, yellowish, erect hairs. Mandibles bidentate. Malar area very short, linear. Clypeus and supraclypeal area flat (sometimes weakly convex) in profile. Clypeus coarsely and densely punctate (i = d); surface completely sculptured. Clypeoantennal distance 0,4mm. Supraclypeal area and paraocular area coarsely punctate; surface completely sculptured. Antennae reddish to brownish. Mesosoma. L = 1,4–1,5mm; W (ITS) = 1,8–1,9mm. Integument black. Scutum dull; disc coarsely punctate; surface completely and strongly sculptured ( Fig. 49b View FIGURE 49 ). Scutellum as illustrated in Fig. 49c View FIGURE 49 . Scutum, scutellum, metanotum, mesepisternum and propodeum with yellowish, erect hairs. Basal area of propodeum as illustrated in Fig. 49c View FIGURE 49 ; propodeum and marginal region of posterior truncation dull; surface coarsely sculptured, with fine wrinkles. Wings. Hyaline. Legs. Integument mostly brownish. Vestiture greyish to brownish. Ts coarsely serrate with about 8 strong, oblique projections ( Fig. 49f View FIGURE 49 ). Bp slender and angulated apically ( Fig. 49g View FIGURE 49 ). Metasoma. L = 3,6–4,1mm; W = 2,8–2,9mm. Integument black to brown except the margins of T pallid brownish (usually T1–T3); margins extensively translucent. T1-T4 with greyish to yellowish, strong, apical hair bands; the bands on T1–T2 mostly present laterally. Prepygidial fimbria mostly brownish ( Fig. 49d View FIGURE 49 ).
Male. Bl = 6,4–6,5mm. General habitus ( Fig. 50e View FIGURE 50 ). Head. L = 1,6–1,7mm; W = 2,2–2,3mm. Head much wider than long ( Fig. 50a View FIGURE 50 ). Integument black except mandibles partly reddish-brown. Clypeus, supraclypeal area, paraocular area and vertex covered with erect, greyish to yellowish hairs. Mandibles bidentate. Malar area very short, linear. Antennae reddish to brownish. Flagellomeres weakly knotty. A4 about as long as A3. Mesosoma. L = 1,3–1,4mm; W (ITS) = 1,5–1,6mm. Integument black. Scutum dull; disc coarsely punctate; surface completely and strongly sculptured (e.g. Fig. 49b View FIGURE 49 ). Scutellum as illustrated in Fig. 50b View FIGURE 50 . Scutum, scutellum, metanotum, mesepisternum and propodeum with greyish to yellowish, erect hairs. Basal area of propodeum as illustrated in Fig. 50b View FIGURE 50 ; propodeum and marginal region of posterior truncation dull; surface coarsely sculptured, with fine wrinkles. Wings. Hyaline. Legs. Integument brownish to black. Vestiture greyish. Metasoma. L = 3,5–3,6mm; W = 2,2–2,3mm. Integument black except the margins of T pallid brownish; margins extensively translucent ( Fig. 50c View FIGURE 50 ). Apical plate slender and pointed apically. Posterior margin of S4 similar in size to S3; S4 without bristles and S5–S6 without areas of dense hair patches ( Fig. 50d View FIGURE 50 ). S7 and S8 as illustrated in Fig. 50f View FIGURE 50 . Genitalia. Genitalia as illustrated in Fig. 50g –h View FIGURE 50 ; gonocoxa shiny and gonostylus with a broad, membranous, glabrous, dorso-lateral projection.
