Parvodeceptor infrequens View in CoL sp. n.
( Figs 1A–E View FIGURE 1. A – F , dimensions in Table 1 View TABLE 1 )
Type material. Holotype, female, North Queensland, Malanda Falls, 750m above sea level, 9 Dec 1989, Monteith, Thompson and Janetski, pyrethrum knockdown logs and trees, HILL 00043, whole in ethanol vial except right elytron on slide, T 228947 in QM.
Description. Female generally brown without distinctive markings, elytral veins darker than cells, eyes redblack in ethanol. Frons with pair of inconspicuous protuberances near anterior margin, visible in anterodorsal view ( Figs 1A–B View FIGURE 1. A – F ). Male unknown.
Notes. It is unfortunate to have to describe this species from a single female and not provide a stronger specific diagnosis but it is the sole representative of the genus seen by the author in 35 years of study.
Etymology. The Latin adjective infrequens alludes to the rarity of this species.
