Notes: The original description of Neoparholaspulus communis states that the dorsal shield of this species bears 34 pairs of setae. The accompanying illustration shows 25 pairs on the shield and nine pairs in the soft integument. Ishikawa (1980a) described and illustrated 30 pairs of setae on the dorsal shield of this species, and the illustration there shows seven pairs of setae in the soft integument. The podonotal setae in the 1980 illustration are much longer than those in the 1966 illustration. It is difficult to reconcile these two sets of observations.
