Type locality. WC, Cape Flats, Farm Bergvleit.
Distribution. Known from the eastern slopes of Table Mtn, extending its occurrence to the south-eastern Cape Peninsula. Recorded: Table Mtn, Platteclip Gorge at ca. 600 m asl. Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens near stream and behind Tea House (caught by twiddling sticks in the ground). Paradise Estate near Kirstenbosch. Newlands Forest oak woods below Lady Anne Barnard's ruined house. Edge of pinewoods by the path from Tokai to Constantia Berg. Roadside at ca. 1,6 km north of Witsands, among stones in very sandy soil. Roadside between Millers' Point and Simonstown, various sites and biotopes. Cape Flats, few sites.
Remarks. Syntypes: ZMH V-6928; ZMB Verm. 4104, both under misspelled name Chilota bergvlietanus (sic!). Other material: BMNH 1938.7.1.1242–1290, numerous specimens from Pickford’s collection, with variable notes under misspelled name bergoleitanus . SAMC 123. Pickford (1937: 322–324), after examination of material of Ch. bergvleitanus and Ch. laeviseta identified and described by Michaelsen (1913a: 503, 501) considered both names as synonyms. The specimen from the Drakensberg Mount-aux-Sources identified by Pickford (1927: 448) as laeviseta after re-examination by Pickford (1937: 313) was transferred to Parachilota wittebergensis Pickford, 1937 .
