IV. Ovalona anamariae ( Sinev & Silva-Briano, 2012) comb. nov.
( Figs. 5 View FIGURE 5. A – H L– O)
Sinev & Silva-Briano, 2012: 9–13, Fig 5–6 View FIGURE 5. A – H View FIGURE 6. A – E ( Alona ).
Type locality. La Araña dam, Sierra Fría, San Jos de Gracia, Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Type material. parthenogenetic female from the type location, MGU Ml 118; for list of paratypes, see Sinev & Silva-Briano (2012).
Material studied earlier. For list of material from Mexico, see Sinev & Silva-Briano (2012).
Diagnosis. Parthenogenetic female. General. Length of adult 0.33–0.36 mm. Body regular oval, of moderate height, height/length ratio about 0.66, maximum height at the middle of the body. Ventral margin with about 30–35 setae, distalmost seta in anterior group very long. Postero-dorsal angle with about 40 setulae not organized into groups.
Head. Posterior part of head shield broadly rounded. Three connected major head pores, PP about 0.2–0.3 IP. Lateral head pores minute.
Labrum. Labral keel moderately wide, with convex anterior margin, rounded apex, and posterior margin with two clusters of short setulae.
Second abdominal segment without dense setulae. Postabdomen short and broad, evenly trunated, length about 2.5 heights. Distal margin straight to weakly convex, distal angle not prominent, rounded. Postanal portion of distal margin straight, anal portion weakly concave. Dorsal margin with distal part 1.5 times longer than preanal one, anal part slightly longer than postanal. Preanal angle well-defined, postanal angle not defined. 5–6 well-developed slender marginal denticles, decreasing in size basally, and with 2–4 groups of marginal setulae on anal margin. Seven-eight moderately wide, sparsely spaced lateral fascicles of setulae, six-seven distalmost fascicles large, with distalmost seta of each fascicle slightly longer than neighboring marginal denticles. Postabdominal claw of moderate length, slightly longer than preanal portion of postabdomen. Basal spine about 0.2 of length of claw.
Antennule with antennular seta about half length of antennule, arising at 2/3 distance from the base. Aesthetascs of different length, two longest of them of about half length of antennule.
Antenna with seta arising from basal segment shorter than endopodite. Spine on basal segment of exopodite longer than middle segment. Spines on apical segments slightly longer than apical segments.
Limb I with accessory seta about 1/3 length of ODL seta. Limb III with exopodite seta 3 being longest, setae 6 about 1/3 length of seta 3, setae 1 and 4 about 1/4 length of seta 3, other setae shorter. Limb IV with epipodite with moderately long projection. Exopodite with setae 1–3 of similar length, seta 5 about 2/3 length of seta 3, setae 4 and 6 two times shorter than seta 5. Flaming-torch setae with well-developed distal portion. Limb V with epipodite with moderately long projection. Exopodite seta 4 four times shorter than seta 1.
Ephippial female unknown.
Male unknown.
Full description. See Sinev & Silva-Briano (2012)
Differential diagnosis. O. anamariae differs from all other species of the genus by small size, valves with very long distalmost ventral seta in anterior group, and by a short evenly truncated postabdomen.
Distribution. Known only from Aguascalientes State of Mexico, Central Mexican Plateau.
