Description. Length 9.7–11.2 mm, width 5.7–6.5 mm. General color ( Figs 41A–41C View FIGURE 41 ) yellow; antennae brown, antennomeres III–VII dark brown and X–XI black. Antennae filiform in males ( Fig. 42A View FIGURE 42 ), antennomeres III and IV longest, VI–IX slender, length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.6: 1.2: 1.2: 1.1: 1.0: 1.1: 1.0: 0.9: 0.9: 1.0, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 2.7: 2.0: 3.8: 4.0: 4.0: 3.7: 4.0: 3.6: 3.1: 3.1: 4.0; longer in female ( Fig. 42B View FIGURE 42 ), length ratios of antennomeres I–XI 1.0: 0.5: 1.3: 1.5: 1.3: 1.3: 1.2: 1.0: 1.0: 0.9: 1.2, length to width ratios of antennomeres I–XI 2.4: 1.9: 4.4: 5.3: 4.8: 4.5: 4.2: 3.6: 3.6: 3.3: 4.4. Pronotum transverse, 1.9x wider than long, disc convex but flattened at lateral margin, without reticulate microsculpture and but with dense, fine punctures; baso- and apico-lateral angles broadly rounded; lateral margin straight; apical margin slightly concave. Elytra elongate oval, widest at middle, 1.3–1.4x longer than wide; disc with reticulate microsculpture but shining and with dense, fine punctures, moderately convex, epipleurae near lateral margins, located 9/10 distance between suture and lateral margins, strongly broadened at basal 1/5, apically narrowed and abbreviated at middle; humeral calli prominent, with depression posterior to calli. Penis ( Figs 42C–42E View FIGURE 42 ) wide, 5.9x longer than wide; parallel-sided, strongly narrowed at apical 1/4 and near apex, subapically angular, apices narrowly rounded; tectum elongate, bifurcated at middle; slightly curved in lateral view, apex slightly swollen and narrowly rounded; apex of ventral surface shallow emarginate, membranous areas from apex, extending to basal 2/5; internal sac without sclerites. Apical margin of abdominal ventrite V in female truncate. Gonocoxae reduced. Ventrite VIII ( Fig. 42F View FIGURE 42 ) transverse, apical margin truncate but depressed at middle, with several long setae along apical margin; one median longitudinal internal ridge from apical 1/3 to basal 1/3; spiculum long and broadened near base. Receptacle of spermatheca ( Fig. 42G View FIGURE 42 ) as wide as pump, connected to pump, basally narrowed; pump strongly curved; proximal spermathecal duct extremely elongate, apical area broadened and covered by sparse, minute teeth.
Diagnosis. Members of O. hsui belongs to the Oides celebensis species group, but O. hsui is easily distinguished by possessing black antennomeres X and XI. Aedeagi of male O. hsui sp. nov. are easily separated from others by the bifurcate tectum and the abruptly narrowed apex of the penis.
Etymology. This new species is dedicated to Yu-Feng Hsu, an expert on Taiwanese Lepidoptera who collected valuable leaf beetles for this project, including specimens of O. duporti .
Distribution. Indonesia: Sulawesi.
