Occurs widely in the tropical areas of Asia, scattered records from the Americas and the Pacific, and restricted to indoor plantings in Europe; oligophagous on bamboo ( Poaceae ). Recorded from Saint Lucia by Ben-Dov (1988) and Malumphy (2012).
