Description of Novosphingobium capsulatum View in CoL LR-3
Cells are Gramstainingnegative, nonflagellated, diffusible pigmented and rodshaped. Colonies are irregular, smooth, white margin after 3 days of incubation on TSA at 30° C. In API 20NE, positive for esculin hydrolysis but negative for nitrate reduction, arginine dihydrolase, gelatinase, glucose fermentation, urea, β galactosidase and indole production. Utilizes Dglucose, Dmannose, Dmaltose and Dmannitol but malic acid, trisodium citrate, N acetylglucosamine Larabinose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid and phenylacetic acid are not utilized. Strain LR3 (= NIBRBA 0000114805 ) has been isolated from a fresh water pond, Daejeon, Korea .
