Novibipalium rhynchophorum Solà & Sluys , sp. nov.

Material: Holotype, ZMA. V.Pl.3053.a (field number KSL2381.1), Tōkyō, near the Canal , Taitō-Ku, Tōkyō, Kantō Region, Honshū, Japan, 21 November 2003, coll. Mr. G.-Y. Sasaki, seven portions sectioned at intervals of 8 μm, comprising a total of 151 slides as follows: horizontal sections containing the head on 25 slides; horizontal sections on 15 slides and transverse sections on 6 slides of the portion between the “neck” and the pharynx; sagittal sections on 21 slides containing most of the pharynx; sagittal sections containing part of the pharynx and the copulatory apparatus on 35 slides; sagittal sections of two portions of the segment posterior to the copulatory apparatus on 15 slides and 34 slides.

Paratype, ZMA. V.Pl.3053.b (field number KSL2381.2), Tōkyō, near the Canal , Taitō-Ku, Tōkyō, Kantō Region, Honshū, Japan, 21 November 2003, coll. Mr. G.-Y. Sasaki, five portions sectioned at intervals of 8 μm, comprising a total of 98 slides, as follows: horizontal sections containing the head on 19 slides; horizontal sections on 15 slides and transverse sections on 10 slides containing a portion between the “neck” and the pharynx; sagittal sections containing the pharynx and the copulatory apparatus on 42 slides; sagittal sections of the tail on 12 slides .

Paratype, ZMA. V.Pl.3053.c (field number KSL2381.3), Tōkyō, near the Canal , Taitō-Ku, Tōkyō, Kantō Region, Honshū, Japan, 21 November 2003, coll. Mr. G.-Y. Sasaki, anterior part of a specimen including the head and the “neck” but not containing either the mouth or the copulatory apparatus. A portion was cut off for DNA extraction. Posterior part was lost .
