Range: —Andes from Venezuela to Bolivia ( CH, LP, SC, TA); Paraguay and central Brazil.
Ecology: —Uncommon; saxicolous and terrestrial under shrubs and trees in semihumid regions; 200–1400(– 2300) m.
Notes: —Blades 1-pinnate-pinnatisect or 2-pinnate; segments abaxially with a dense cover of simple, long, appressed hairs. Myriopteris aurea has less divided blades that are tomentose abaxially. Cheilanthes fraseri is also very similar, but has less divided, pinnate-pinnatifid blades.
