Nohawilliamsia pirarensis View in CoL (Rchb.f.) M.W.Chase & Whitten, comb. nov.. Basionym: Oncidium pirarense
Reichenbach (1849: 846).
Synonyms: Oncidium orthostates Ridl. in Im Thurn (1886: 204), Ampliglossum orthostates (Ridl.) Campacci (in: Neto et al. 2006: 85), Coppensia orthostates (Ridl.) Campacci (2006: 56) , Nohawilliamsia orthostates (Ridl.) M.W. Chase & N.H. Williams (in: Chase et al. 2009: 399), nom. inval., N. pirarense (Rchb.f.) M.W.Chase & Whitten (in: Whitten 2009: 555), nom. inval.
This distinctive species is unlikely to be mistaken for any other; it lacks a tabula infrastigmatica, has minute rough leaf margins and produces kikis (plantlets) on old inflorescences, all unusual traits in Oncidiinae . The name uncovered by Christenson (2009) is undoubtedly applicable to this concept, and so a new combination was published in Whitton (2009), but because the original publication of the genus was invalid, so too was this combination.
Gomesa colorata (Königer & J.G.Weinm.) M.W.Chase & N.H.Williams View in CoL , comb. nov.; basionym: Oncidium coloratum Königer & Weinmann (1994: 51) . The basionym for this name was inadvertently omitted in Chase et al. (2009).
Gomesa flexuosa (Lodd.) M.W.Chase & N.H.Williams View in CoL , comb. nov.; basionym: Oncidium flexuosum Loddiges (1820 : t. 424). The wrong original author and citation was picked up from the synopsis of Oncidium by Garay & Stacy (1974).
Gomesa paranana M.W.Chase & N.H.Williams View in CoL , nom. nov. Synonym: Menezesiella paranaensis Chiron & V.P.Castro (in: Castro et al. 2008: 51). In Gomesa View in CoL , this epithet is already occupied by G. paranaensis Kraenzlin (1911: 78) .
Gomesa paranensoides M.W.Chase & N.H.Williams View in CoL , nom. nov. Synonym: Oncidium paranaense Kraenzlin (1911: 84) . In Chase et al. (2009), this species as transferred to Gomesa View in CoL , ignoring the fact that this epithet was occupied in Gomesa View in CoL , so this name is illegitimate in Gomesa View in CoL and a new name provided here.
