Nigrimacula platycerca View in CoL sp. nov., Chinese name Ṁ尾Ḣü⁂
( Figs. 2 View FIGURE 2 , 3 View FIGURE 3 )
Description. Male. Body small. Fastigium verticis conical, furrowed in the midline, apex obtusely rounded. Eyes ovoid, slightly protruding forwards. Apical segment of maxillary palpus nearly as long as subapical one, apex slightly inflated.
Anterior margin of pronotum almost straight, posterior margin obtusely rounded; lateral lobe longer than high, humeral sinus shallow. Thoracic auditory spiracle exposed, reniform.
Tegmen long and narrow, surpassing apex of hind femur, anterior and posterior margins nearly parallel, apex obtusely rounded. Hind wing slightly longer than tegmen.
Anterior margin of fore coxa with a spine. All femora unarmed on ventral surfaces. Internal and external margins of ventral surface of fore tibia with 5 long spines separately, apical spine comparatively short, tibial tympana opened on both sides. Middle tibia with 5 long spines on internal and external margins of ventral surface respectively. Genicular lobes of hind femur with apices obtusely rounded on both sides; hind tibia with 17–20 short spines on internal and external margins of dorsal surface respectively, apex with 1 pair of dorsal apical spurs and 2 pairs of ventral apical spurs.
Posterior margin of tenth abdominal tergite subtruncate. Cercus stout, slightly curved inwards and upwards, basal half nearly cylindrical; apical half compressed, slightly concave on inner surface, spoon-shaped, ventral margin slightly widened inwards in apical half, apex obtusely rounded; with a obtuse and short process in the middle of ventral margin on inner surface. Subgenital plate nearly circular, apical area slightly narrow. Styli short conical, apices obtusely rounded, inserted on lateral margins of subgenital plate near apex.
Female. Appearance is similar to that of male. Lateral area of ninth abdominal tergite slightly broadened posteriorly; posterior margin of tenth abdominal tergite split. Cercus tapering apically, apex obtusely rounded, slightly curved dorsad. Epiproct broad and short, posterior margin obtusely rounded. Subgenital plate slightly broad at base, then gradually narrowing, posterior margin emarginate. Ovipositor with basal area robust, gradually narrowing towards tip, slightly curved dorsad in apical half; dorsal and ventral margins smooth; dorsal valula longer than ventral one, apex acute; apex of ventral valula hooked.
Coloration. General color yellowish green. Fastigium verticis black, occiput with a broad longitudinal yellowish brown stripe along the midline. Antennal pedicel and flagellum yellowish brown. Eyes reddish brown. Tip of mandible black. Disc of pronotum with a broad longitudinal yellowish brown stripe along the midline which becoming lighter in metazona. Anterior margin of disc with a pair of black brown spots, anterior margin of metazona with a pair of relatively large black brown spots widely separated from each other. Apical half of tegmen with some scattered irregular dark spots. Apical areas of all spines of hind tibia black as well as apical spurs.
Material examined. Holotype: ♂, Daweishan, Pingbian, Yunnan, China, 8 August, 2021, coll. Qi Guo and Yanhao Duan. Paratypes: 3♂ 2♀, the same data as holotype . Other specimens: 1♂ 1♀, the same data as holotype .
Measurements (mm). Body: ♂ 9.3–10.5, ♀ 12.0–12.3; pronotum: ♂ 3.6–3.9, ♀ 3.3–3.5; tegmen: ♂ 14.3–15.7, ♀ 16.1–16.8; hind femur: ♂ 7.5–7.9, ♀ 8.4–8.6; ovipositor: 8.3–9.1.
Remarks. The new species resembles Nigrimacula sichuanensis Wang & Shi, 2016 , but it differs from the latter in: apical half of male cercus compressed, slightly concave on inner surface, spoon-shaped, ventral margin slightly widened inwards in apical half; male subgenital plate nearly circular, apical area narrow.
Distribution. China (Yunnan).
Etymology. The name of new species is named for apical half of male cercus slightly widened inwards on ventral margin, from Latin ‘ platy -’ (wide) and ‘ cerc -’ (cercus).
