ORIGIN: From the posterior end of the dorsal surface of the manubrium, posterior and lateral to the origin of M. sternohyoideus . INSERTION: Via a fascial sheet on the posterolateral margin of the thyroid cartilage. REMARKS: This muscle has the same general form in the 11 study taxa.
