Range: —Endemic to Bolivia (LP).

Ecology: —Rare, known from three Bolivian collections; epiphytic in montane rain forests; 2800–3100 m.

Notes: —Distinct from other species of Mycopteris by the long-creeping rhizomes.Among neotropical grammitids, only some species of Melpomene and Ceradenia have long-creeping rhizomes. Melpomene differs in the broader, entire clathrate rhizome scales with clear, iridescent lumina. Ceradenia species all have whitish, wax-like glands in the sori and lack hydathodes adaxially. Both Ceradenia and Melpomene lack the black ascomes found in Mycopteris longicaulis .
