Description. Forewings 2.2 times longer than wide, length in male about 4.7 mm. Colour of head and mesonotum light orange-brown; legs light brown; rest of body stramineous. Forewings uniformly and lightly infuscated; small, lighter, but not very distinct, areas at base, at apex of clavus, in second costal cell, and along apical margin; veins brown. Hindwings including veins faintly infuscated. Rostrum slightly surpassing post trochanter. Forewings with Sc+R fork before middle of wing; bases of Cu1 and Ms1 connected by a short cross-vein, Ms1 branched just after apex of basal median cell; base of Ms1a angulated and connected to M by a cross-vein; hindwings with apex of R branched. Pygofer with short and pointed lateral projections; genital styles slightly truncated at the end; aedeagus with apical part long, curved ventrad; tip pointed, consisting of two contiguous flat lobes.
Etymology. The species name is a Latin adjective ( maestus , -a, -um = sad).
Type material. Holotype ♂ (forewing 4.7 mm), WEST MALAYSIA; labels: 1) MALAYA: Pahang / Cameron Highlands / Mt. Brinchang / 1–9.I.1959 2) 1900–2000 m. 3) L.W. Quate / Collector ( BPBM).
Distribution. West Malaysia.
Diagnosis. Muiralevu maestus is characterized by the uniformly and lightly infuscated forewings having several small paler areas. The male genitalia are similar to those of M. dimidius sp. nov. and M. reticulatus sp. nov., both also from West Malaysia.
