Morochares nigripennis Tsuneki, 1989: 100 , ♀ (holotype, ♀, "Chiayi Pref., Kuanghu (about 1100 m), 6–7.VIII.1968, K. Tsuneki" [Taiwan], [National Museum of Natural History, Washington DC, USA]); Tsuneki 1990: 37, ♀.

Diagnosis. Female. The female of this species can be easily separated from other congeners by having the forewings wholly and strongly infuscate, without fascia ( Fig. 4 ). Other characters of importance are: the scape noticeably longer than F1; the head in frontal view with the vertex slightly produced beyond the eye top ( Fig. 2 ); the propodeum usually without rugae, sometimes with fine rugae interrupted medially; and the head, mesosoma and legs predominantly with silver pubescence. Male. Unknown.

Material examined. China, Taiwan: 1♀, Taoyoan prov., Mingehih env., 1075 m, 24.65°N 121.42° E, 9.V.2012 (J. Halada) [OLL].

Distribution. China ( Taiwan) ( Tsuneki 1989).

Remarks. The two subspecies, M. nigripennis yayeyamana Tsuneki, 1990 and M. nigripennis okinawana Tsuneki, 1990 , are distributed in the Ryukyus, Japan. The male of the nominotypical subspecies is unknown. The holotype of Morochares nigripennis nigripennis Tsuneki, 1989 is deposited in National Museum of Natural History, Washington DC, USA ( Nuhn & Menke 1994) and was not examined.
