Diagnosis. Wingspan 35–40 mm. Body pale grey or brownish-grey. Ground colour of forewing varies from pale grey to pale brownish-grey or ochreous-grey. M. lama lama differs clearly from the two other Central Asian taxa of the group ( M. juldussica and M. dubiosa dubiosa ) in the pale grayish ground colour and well expressed contrasting pattern. The genitalia of M. lama lama are close to M. adusta but differ in the broader juxta, relatively broader proximal part of valva, broader digitus, somewhat smaller cucullus, broader vesica and more robust carina with somewhat shorter and less sclerotised eversible dorso-lateral bar in the males and the somewhat broader ostium bursae, broader and more twisted ductus bursae and stronger sclerotised appendix bursae and posterior part of corpus bursae in the females.
Distribution. Central Asian. West Tien Shan massif, Pamir and Alai Mts, northwestern China (Xinjiang). Note. Hacker (1990) illustrated the male genitalia of M. adjuncta as ' M. lama ', with the genitalia of true M. lama illustrated as ' Mniotype sp.'
