Range: — Honduras, Costa Rica, Grenada; Trinidad; Guianas across northern Venezuela and Colombia and south to Bolivia (LP) along Andean base; Brazil.
Ecology: —Rare, known from three Bolivian collections; epiphytic in humid forests; 600–1500 m.
Notes: —This species was treated as synonymous with M. piloselloides (L.) Copel. by Tryon & Stolze (1993), but that species is here considered to be restricted to the Antilles, Mexico, and Mesoamerica. A closer relative is M. reptans , see comments under that species.
