Materialexamined (1 f + 1 m) – Femaleholotype: CostaRica, Alajuela , 20 kmSfrom Upala , 20–26 March1991, leg. F. D. Parker. Maleparatype: Honduras, Yoro, PalodeCombo , 15˚11’N / 87˚39’W, 5 August 1995, leg. R. Cave. – Holotypeisingoodcondition: (1) glued directtothepinbytherightsideofmesosoma, (2) rightforewingmissing. Paratypeisin fairlygoodcondition: (1) gluedoncardpointbytherightsideofmesosoma, (2) leftflagellumdeficient: presentflagellomeres 1–7. HolotypeisdepositedinHNHM, Hym. Typ. No. 12250; paratypeinZMLU .

Etymology – Thenewspeciesreceivedthename “curticarinulus” referingtotheshort carinuleapico-dorsallyoncarapace (Fig. 147).

Description of the female holotype – Body 3.5 mm long. Antenna short, as long as head andmesosomacombined, with 16 antennomeres. Scapesomewhatglobose, 2.3 timesas longasbroad (Fig. 140). Firstflagellomere 3.6 timesaslongasbroad, penultimateflagellomerealmost 1.5 timeslongerthanbroad. – Headindorsalviewtransverse, twiceas broadaslong, eye 1.9–2 longerthantemple, templereceded (Fig. 141). OOLsomewhat longerthanPOL (10:8). Eyeinlateralview 1.8 timesashighaswide, genabeyondeye broadeningventrallyandjustbroaderventrallythaneye, fairlydisperselytodensely punctate, interpunctureslongertoshorterthanpunctures (Fig. 142). Clypeus 1.8 timesas widebelowashighmedially, itslowermarginmediallytruncate, punctate: interpunctures shorterthanpunctures, subshiny (cf. Fig. 434 View Figs 428–439 ). Face, frons, vertexandocciputtransversely substriolate (Fig. 141).

Mesosomainlateralview 1.4 timesaslongashigh, scabrous. Mesoscutumwithno- taulix. Scutellumuneven- subrugulose (Fig. 143). Lateralpairofdenticulesofpropodeal carinastrongerthanmedianpair (Fig. 144). Hindfemurthick, 2.4 timesaslongasbroad medially, hindtibiaalsothick: distallyasbroadasfemur (Fig. 145 seearrows). Hindbasi- tarsusaslongastarsomeres 2–4 combined.

Forewingone- fourthshorterthanbody (2.6 mmlong). Pterostigmawide, twiceas long as wide, issuing r from its middle, 3–SR 1.8 times as long as r (11:6), SR1 straight, 1–R1 0.6 timesaslongaspterostigma (Fig. 146 seearrows).

Carapaceindorsalview 2.1 timesaslongasbroadmedially, posteriorlyconicule- shape, fairlystronglystriatedwithanastomoses, interstriationsrugulose ( Fig. 139 View Figs 128–139 ); apico- Figs 140–153. Microchelonuscurticarinulus sp. n. Apico-ventral incurvedpartofcarapacedeepandaboutaslongashindfirsttwotarsomeres (Fig. 149 see arrows). Carapaceapicallywithoutforamen. Ovipositorsheathshort, concealed.

Groundcolourofbodyblack. Scapeandpediceltestaceous, flagellumbrownish black. Palpiandtegulapaleyellow. Legsyellow, coxae 1–2 brownish, coxa 3 black, hindfe- Figs 154–169. 154–160. Microchelonus curtulus sp. n. Description of the male paratype – Similar to the female holotype. Body 3 mm long. Antennaaslongashead, mesosomaandanteriorfourthofcarapacecombined, with 20 antennomeres, penultimateflagellomerejustcubic (11:10). Scutellumrugose. Hindfemur thick, 2.5 timesaslongasbroadmedially, hindtibiaasbroaddistallyasfemur (Fig. 145). Forewing: pterostigma 2.5 timesaslongaswide, 1–R1 long: 0.8 timesaslongpterostigma (Fig. 151). Carapaceapico-dorsallywithoutcarinulus. Apicalforamenofcarapacelesselliptic, 1.6 timesaswideashigh (Fig. 153). Carapaceinlateralview 2.6 timesaslongashigh posteriorly (Fig. 152 seearrows). VentralcavitiyofcarapaceasinFig. 149.

Distribution – CostaRica, Honduras.

Taxonomic position – The new species, M. curticarinulus , is closest to M. refluus Pappviewingtheirlessstrongsculptureofcarapace ( Figs 139 View Figs 128–139 , 390 View Figs 385–397 ), apico-ventrallydistinctlyincurvedcarapace (Fig. 149) andhindlegdarkcoloured; distinctionoftheirfemalesisasfollows:
